The innovative nature of the SOLACE methodology lies in its arts-based, creative methodologies combined with conventional ethnographic fieldwork, in its interdisciplinary nature (public health, art, primary care, music, anthropology, community studies) and its co-production approach.
The field activities in Northern Samar have been designed in such a way to encourage reflexivity and active participation in the process including the use of the three local languages: Filipino, English and Waray (local language in Northern Samar).
Ethnographic fieldwork will be carried out by anthropologists Issa Mijares, Lisa Dikomitis, Jowel Canuday and public health clinician Ginger Ramirez. They will conduct participant-observation in different areas in Northern Samar in 2018.
