I am the Provincial Health Officer and medical doctor based in Northern Samar, Philippines. Having survived breast cancer and a shooting incident, my passion and perseverance have been demonstrated in my 26 years of public service to date.

Overtime, I had taken on several responsibilities and has spearheaded several important enterprises such as,  but not limited to, drafting and enactment of an ordinance in Maternal and Child Health and Newborn Care to increase facility based delivery and skilled birth attendants geared towards reduction of maternal deaths, drafting and enactment of a consignment ordinance and setting up trust funds from PhilHealth reimbursements – a state owned insurance corporation to address the shortage of medicines and instituting a partnership with Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health has addressed the need for necessary medical professionals.

Recently, as one of the delegates to the Medical Residency Rotation Program sponsored by the Department of Health (DOH) and European Union, to the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, Scotland, an experience that deepened my knowledge to further improve the quality of health care delivery by establishing a training program in practice based family medicine for Municipal Health Officers and hospital resident physicians in partnership with DOH – Family Medicine Task Force.

Concurrent to my profession, I take care of my aging mother, two elder siblings, my two children and my husband – a fellow public servant.  In my spare time I love to cook for my family who enjoy my cuisine. Ad Majoriem, Dei Gloriam (for the greater glory of God)!
